[Moblin L10n] Official status on "professional" translations vs. community contributions?

Hi,

I just took a first look at Moblin translations. I didn't find an
earlier discussion from the mailing list concerning this, but they are
of terrible quality in parts, at least in Finnish (fi). Most of them
(that are unique to Moblin) seem to originate from one translation
company, which Intel probably has purchased the translations from.

The question is: were those one time purchase by Intel to kickstart
translations, and are the translations officially now in the hands of
the community? The reason for asking is that I'm really not that
interested in contributing translations, if those so-called
professional translations are considered preferable for example in
case of product shipments. Could someone from Intel shed a light on
the history of the l10n of Moblin, and possibly (if you can comment)
if you are aware of the poor quality of at least some of what was
delivered? I'd also value if anyone could deliver the message to those
parts of the company that need it - I'm pretty sure a cool project
like Moblin will do totally fine with community contributions, at
least if you have somehow the concept of language-specific teams and
therefore some limits on who can translate what. Also just requiring
registration could be enough if people can view "recent changes" per
language in a string-by-string way, but I think Moblin is or will be
large enough to have a team coordinator per language etc. to control
the flow of translators coming in.
